La Tierra Sagrada — "the sacred land" — is one of Old Town's oldest adobe homes, cared for by native New Mexicans who grew up with this landscape.
This beautifully preserved earthen adobe was built in 1865 and passed down through generations of the Domínguez family. Restoration was done thoughtfully — keeping the hand-sawn beams, the hand-troweled plaster, and the antique stove intact — so the home still tells its own story while offering the comforts of a modern stay.
Inside, art and textiles by New Mexican makers turn the house into a living gallery. Hundred-year-old Navajo weavings, Native pottery, and handcrafted furniture sit alongside contemporary pieces, each one connected to the region and its long artistic heritage.
We're native New Mexicans — proud to be from Taos and to call Albuquerque home. Ken studied at the UNM School of Architecture, which shows in the way the house has been kept. After more than a decade of hosting and thousands of stays, we still love how many wonderful people come through our town.
